GlobalSign’s Trusted Root Signing Certificates allow organizations using their own PKI or CA software environment the ability to chain up to GlobalSign’s Root Certificate for issuing SSL Certificates for their own domains and Client Certificates to extranet users for S/MIME and Authentication applications.

The GlobalSign Root Certificate is already distributed in all operating systems, browsers, and mobile devices, meaning that all GlobalSign SSL and Client Certificates are transparently trusted. Certificates issued from a untrusted Root Certificate present errors and confusion when presented to end users. GlobalSign's Trusted Root solution eliminates the need to provide support to explain such errors and also means organizations need not to distribute their own Root Certificates - a time consuming and costly process.

Without Trusted Root, organizations configuring their own PKI deployments would be required to install the enterprise's own root certificate on each machine within its network (employees, extranet, users, etc). Trusted Root enables all issued Certificates to be inherently trusted.
