Ben Coats Since when is videotaping a TSA agent doing their job illegal? The only reason TSA would not want to be videotaped by the public is because the TSA is doing something they know is wrong and they wish to hide it. Otherwise, TSA would allow the videotaping if only to prove that they did nothing wrong. They have told me before when they patted me down (yes, I was a pilot going to work) that, "We have cameras all over the place for your protection." This was in response to me objecting to them taking my laptop out of my line of sight for their inspection. When I objected to that, I got the benefit of a pat-down. I was appauled, especially since I had to pass numerous background checks to become an airline pilot. We pilots go through more background checks to become airline employees than the TSA to become agents. It's funny (not ha, ha) that THEY check US. Anyway, so long, fourth amendment rights.28m
Waqas Usman "The facts remain clear and simple; Middle Eastern Muslims have ALWAYS been the perpetrators of terrorism aboard aircraft" Joel Daniel seems to be either ignorant or racist or a combination of both. The first hijacking where civilians were held hostage was done by Israeli terrorists (i.e. mostly Jewish Europeans who migrated to Israel and kicked out its native population) on December 12, 1954 in order to force Syria to release its spies who were caught inside Syria while installing tapping equipment on Syrian phone lines. The Middle Eastern mastermind of several hijackings in 1970s was George Habash. He was Middle Eastern, he was a Palestinian but he was not a Muslim; he was a Christian. He was 22 years old when he and his family was kicked out of Palestine by Jewish occupiers who took over his people's land and created a country called Israel. He and his family were never allowed to return by the Jewish occupiers. He turned to this crazy idea of hijacking planes to achieve his political goals of liberation of his homeland. He was crazy but what would you do if someone kicked you out of your home? Dozens of hijackings have been done by crazy white men, you just don't see Hollywood movies portraying white European men as killers, those roles were reserved for Russians and later on Muslims and Latin Americans are also available to scare you off with there terroristiness.46m
DAVE DEVINE Say something, be awkward. Take it to the edge if you don't want to risk losing money or missing the flight. DO NOT DO NOTHING. Do it for others, if not for yourself; this is already too far on the slippery slope. We're people too! Just because we do not have a disability or special religious and cultural requirements, doesn't mean we are not special in our own way. We need to return to fairness, equality and respect for the paying customer. I vacation to relax and unwind, so I travel by air only when I absolutely have to. I find the Ferry, trains and cars much more civilised, and not terribly expensive either.47m
Gaynor Samworth Pointless Argument. Security is imperative after all that has gone before us with 9/11 disasters etc. Get patted down. Deal with it !!!50m
Martin Witchard It would be good to see some figures on the number and type of searches conducted, whether they yielded a 'result' and what the passenger thought of the process. Mind you, the statement that a poll suggested that one third of Americans favour cavity searches makes me a little queasy! (but again, would be good to know who was polled, where and when).55m
francis xavier stegman I HAVE STOPPED FLYING UNLESS I REALLY NEED TO GO SOME WHERE..IT IS TOO MUCH OF A PROBLEM..THE GOING THROUGH LINES, THE WAITING, IT JUST IS NOT WORTH IT...I WILL BE GOING TO LAS VEGAS IN APRIL AND I HATE THE THOUGHT OF HAVING TO GO TO THE AIR PORT . I DO INDUSTRIAL CONSULTING AND NOW I DO THE BUSINESS OVER THE PHONE OR USE THE COMPUTER.IT IS JUST NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE..STEGMAN1h
Jason Lotito " say something." Say what? To whom? How do you do it without getting arrested, or detained?1h
Berlin Brown Simple solution and nobody ever wants to talk about it. Sure it is more towards the long game but perfectly valid. The TSA budget is $8 billion, we should quit funding all of these crazy government programs. With a federal government budget of 1 trillion dollars, of course they are going to abuse their power. Iraq war, don't fund it. Afghanistan war, don't fund it. Drone operations, don't fund them. TSA, Department of Homeland Security, don't fund them.1h
Phil Zastrow It's not just at airports. It's everywhere and in everything we do to some extent. I won't list many of the issues that make me crazy, but just be you had to do it in the military doesn't mean it's a good idea or that it doesn't violate your rights. The interesting thing about the military is that you give up most of your civil rights when you enlist (or when you were drafted.)1h
Jim Tough The primary reason I avoid flying to or via the USA - I'll go out of my way and add hours to my travel to avoid the draconian approach adopted under the banner of security and safety.1h
Rakesh Dass Well this is how it all begins.....when the tyrants see people complying silently....they keep increasing the pressure. God be with you "slaves" of USSA!!1h
Phillip Zito CEM, LEED AP BD+ C , CCENT, [LION] I don't really care what they do as long as I make it to my flight on time. Been through much worse in the military and if you've seen what customs they have in other countries you wouldn't be complaining. That's my two cents.1h
Joel Daniel The entire TSA security mess is a typical government "solution" that disrupts EVERYONE because of politically-motivated, quasi-psychopathic obsession to avoid offending specific groups. The facts remain clear and simple; Middle Eastern Muslims have ALWAYS been the perpetrators of terrorism aboard aircraft - NOT grandmothers, old white males, and disabled 7-year old kids. (to mention but a few ) If local police sought each criminal suspect in this manner, police would be utterly ineffective and criminals would reign. Yet - we, the paying and overtaxed public tolerate it just to be "fair" and "nice". It's time to STOP this insanity.1h
Julian Warmington This is just reason #2 to stop flying altogether, whenever and wherever possible. Reason #1, global warming. Reason #3, saving your company's finances and budget.1h
Michelle Idziorek was pulled out of line and patted down in front of the whole security line at phoenix sky harbor. at least at SFO they took me behind a curtained off area. it's uncomfortable enough without having it done in front of a hundred gawking eyes. ugh, terrible.1h
Gint Atkinson I moved my family out of the violent US and don't have to deal with crazy cops and gangsters anymore. Lucky we could do it.1h
Angel Gil Ruiz Let me know when you guys get this change done, in the meantime I'll keep my ass out of the US even for connection flights!!1h
caroline thomas Thank you for posting this! Too many of us go through this and keep silent !1h
